Backed by a lifelong passion for the art-form, musician and songwriter Stephen Valenzuela leads with crisp rhythms, and fiercely gripping vocals, across his brand new Americana-kissed album ‘The Lucky One. The gift of time the pandemic provided instilled a sense of reflection; a quality that stands tall throughout the lyrics, musicianship, performances and final production of ‘The Lucky One’. From the opening soul and vulnerability of ‘Every Part Of Me’, uplift and melancholy appear blissfully intertwined. Elsewhere, songs like ‘Harder To Breathe’ cascade with an invigorating fusion of rock, blues, and poetic song writing. Currently based in Arlington, Texas, Valenzuela releases ‘The Lucky One’ – a two-year undertaking, the hard-earned result of making music as wholly independent. The project encapsulates the trials and tribulations of an unorthodox yet mildly familiar journey. Stephen’s unwavering ability to paint storylines with accessible, emotive poetry, and to craft memorable, engaging melodies, delivered with absolute presence and heart, makes for a timeless collection that quickly and faultlessly connects.
Hailing from New Mexico’s Truth or Consequences, small-town living raised an artist with a commitment to both music and community. From taking up guitar at 11 years old, through teenage and college years dreaming of rock stardom, music became a lifeblood.
Boasting decades of live-show experience, from local premier support act for national performers, to opening for his idols, Motley Crue (The Greatest Hits Tour), Stephen is no stranger to the stage. The industry outstretched its arms accordingly, and Illusion Records soon welcomed his band – Somebody’s Weird – to sign and release a debut album. Sadly, as per the nature of show-biz, success was limited. Before long, the band went separate ways. In the seven years that followed, the weight of the rat-race and divorce at his heels, Stephen headed to the vastness of Oklahoma – selling his electric guitars and taking an arbitrary job to permit him an escape from everything. An acoustic guitar soon replaced the past, and suddenly a whole new world of sound took hold. Enter the first Valenzuela album, and the subsequent years of devotion to finding a voice unique to his own intentions and depth. Valenzuela, the band, released their first album in 2015 – a collaborative effort with long-time friends Paul Harrington and Mike Box, produced by Don Miggs; conceived at LALA Mansion in Florida. 1st album can be found here https://open.spotify.com/album/5pf2PoMexYKaON9e1qNAm5
